Casimer John Parkitny, resident of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on December 5th, 2020 at the age of 88 after complications due to a minor surgery. He was born on November 17, 1932 in Golce, Poland to Boleslaw and Maria Parkitny. Along with his sister and two brothers, the family endured starvation and the horrors of WWII, eventually immigrating to America. As the oldest child, Casey worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was drafted and honored to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. During his service, he became a citizen of the US. After serving his country, he returned to Chicago and continued to provide for his family while attending trade school at night to become a machinist and a tool and die maker. Casey loved people and was a member of several clubs and organizations including the soccer club and the Polish Eagles of Chicago . He also enjoyed quiet time; keeping daily journals, collecting coins and stamps, and loving nature--particularly birds. One of his favorite hobbies was raising carrier pigeons; being known to have missed a date or two in order to tend to the pigeons!
He met Judith Anne Bastas while attending a soccer game. Casey and Judy married and had three children. He now had a new family to provide for and worked double shifts at Zenith to buy a house for his family in the suburbs of Chicago. In 1977 he moved to Brownsville to further his career with Zenith. His formal education stopped at the third grade and amazingly he became the Plant Engineer for Zenith in Matamoros, Mexico. He crossed the international bridge daily for 20 years.
Casey married Jeanie Mutz in 1992. Upon retirement, they traveled the US in a small RV, but they felt most at home on Texas beaches. They enjoyed fishing on Boca Chica Beach and socializing with the “snowbirds” on South Padre Island. Casey was a proud, hard working man with an amazing sense of integrity--gifts that he had passed on to his children and grandchildren.
Casey is survived by his wife Jeanie; brother Felix Parkitny and wife Nelly; sister Stella Mills; and sister-in-law Celine Parkinty. Three children: Cindy Ensminger and husband Kevin; Patty Parkitny-Gibbons and husband Tom; and Casey Parkitny and wife Christina.
