Carrie “Ruth” Jobe Winter, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by family.  Ruth resided at 1925 E. Vinson in Harlingen, TX.  The house that she passed away in was built by her father in 1927 when he brought his family to a new life in the Rio Grande Valley from Tennessee.  Ruth was born to Grover Cleveland Jobe and Alma Rose Krauss in Elizabethan, TN on July 13, 1924.  Ruth graduated from Harlingen High School in 1941 and she was always an avid “Cardinal Fan”.
Ruth married Roy E. Winter, Jr. on November 9, 1947.  During their 68 years of marriage they had 3 daughters, Kathy (Mike) Harris, Karen (Dennis) House, and Kitty (Leon) Van Holsbeke.  They also had 1 son, Rocky (C.J.) Winter.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, brothers, Dudley Jobe and George Jobe, and a grandson, Toby Winter.
Ruth has 6 grandsons, Bryan (Candace) Harris, Brad Harris, Justin House, Reggie Van Holsbeke, Devin Van Holsbeke, and Leon (Lisa) Van Holsbeke, III.  She also had 4 great grandchildren, Ethan Harris, Kyndall Harris, Sophie Harris, and Madison Van Holsbeke.
Ruth worked at the USDA Cotton Classing office, Jobe’s Gulf as well as Econo Car Rental.
She loved to play and watch baseball, fish, bowling and watching all “Big Red Cardinal Sports”.  She also loved to collect anything and everything!
Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bryan Harris, Leon Van Holsbeke, Brad Harris, Justin House, Toby Winter, Reggie Van Holsbeke, Devin Van Holsbeke, great grandchildren, Ethan Harris, Kyndall Harris, Madison Van Holsbeke, and Sophie Harris.
Visitation hours will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Mont Meta Memorial Park with Dr. Marsha Miles Chaplin officiating.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the charity of your choice or Gentiva Hospice.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, their staff, especially Louise and Annie, and Home Health Nurse, Sandra for all their care and concern.
