Carolyn Wallace, 93, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 in Harlingen, TX.
Carolyn was born June 29, 1915 in Brenham, TX to Edward C. Wallace, Sr. and Bobbie Adele Wallace.  She was a 1933 graduate of La Feria High School, where she was a star athlete with skills in volleyball and basketball.  Then she went to attend Baylor University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1939.  Carolyn worked and retired for the Texas Department of Human Resources after 39 years of dedicated service.
Carolyn was a member of the Garden Club of La Feria and Harlingen and was also a flower judge for the garden shows. She was active in procuring numerous historical markers through her membership with the Texas Historical Society and was a member and researcher for Harlingen Genealogy Society.  She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of La Feria for over 80 years and the DAR’S.  She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and working with all her clubs.
Carolyn is survived by her brother, Edward Wallace; sister-in-law, Bettie Wallace; nephew, John Wallace and his wife Robbie; niece, Cindy McGee and her husband Danny; and great-nieces, Julie Wallace and Megan McGee.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Sunday, March15, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kids Corner at the First Baptist Church, 208 S. Main St., La Feria, Texas 78559.
