Carolyn Sue (Thomas) Harvey was born on August 31, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Wallace Edward and Mildred May (Poff) Thomas. She moved to La Feria, Texas with her family in the 1950s so her parents could help run Poff's Fruit and Vegetable Market which was owned by her grandparents. Carolyn was a graduate of La Feria High School class of 1964 where she participated in the band as a clarinet player. It was there that she met the love of her life, Edwin "Dutch" Harvey.
After graduation, Carolyn and Dutch were married on October 29, 1964. They settled in Harlingen, Texas. She was a loving wife to Dutch, her husband of 54 years and a devoted mother to their children Aaron and Kari. Carolyn attended First Baptist Church of Harlingen where she found great joy working in the nursery with the toddlers. Later, Carolyn attended and served as an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Harlingen. She was known for her talents as a seamstress and loved to crochet. Carolyn devoted her life to creating a loving home for her family and was generous with her wisdom, which usually started with “Let me tell you something...”, while looking up at you with her sweet smile and waving her finger. She and Dutch also owned and operated Mesquite Park and Sales in La Feria until they retired in 1991.
Carolyn was a treasured friend with a wonderful giving heart and a devoted servant of God who will be missed by the many whose lives she touched.
On June 6, 2021, Carolyn was joyously reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Dutch, parents Wallace and Mildred, sister Nora Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Jerry.
She leaves behind to carry on her legacy her son, Aaron Paul and wife, Arienne Harvey of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Kari Ann (Harvey) Thompson of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Moore of Greenville, South Carolina; Alaina Grace and Aaron Jacob Harvey of Burleson, Texas; great grandson, Gabriel Aiden Moore of Greenville, South Carolina; sister, Jackie Shelton of Kansas City, Missouri; and many loving nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
