Carol Blanton Greenlee, born Catherine Carol Blanton in Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home in Harlingen, Texas on February 4, 2023. She was born on March 3, 1933, to Katherine & M.V. "Bud" Blanton.
Carol was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a lifelong lover of learning, a voracious reader, generous, gracious, sharp-minded, and quick-witted. In addition, she was deeply compassionate and very independent.
Carol was devoted to her family and friends. She quickly sent a handwritten note to honor your birthday or to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of friends and family. She would happily share some exciting articles clipped from newspapers or magazines. She had a knack for seeing the funny side of life and would laugh as she told you a story about something that tickled her.
She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1955 with a B.A. in Education and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was an elementary school teacher, mother, volunteer, and travel agent. Her love for and knowledge of travel made her a much sought-after agent. She was known for planning the perfect trip of a lifetime. Carol spent much of her life volunteering in the communities where she lived, including The Cerebral Palsy Center as a Midland's Jr. Welfare League/Junior League member and a long-time Docent at UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio. In addition, she was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church of Harlingen.
She will be greatly missed by her family, who loved her so. Carol is survived by daughter, Katherine Uhlhorn (Tudor); son, David Greenlee; grandchildren, Caitlin Greenlee Short (Reagan), Cutter Uhlhorn (Karen), Hubbard Uhlhorn, and Seton Uhlhorn; nephews, David Wilkerson, Michael Wimert, David Wimert; and nieces, Katie Wilkerson Carnes, Noel Carol Wilkerson Holmes, and Brooke Wimert Hanson.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Katherine & M.V "Bud" Blanton; sisters, Patricia Wimert and Judy Wilkerson; grandson, Austin Greenlee; and niece, Paula Wimert.
A celebration of Carol's life will be take place Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to St. Alban's Episcopal Church or to the charity of your choice.
