Carmen Silva, 85 of Los Fresnos died January 22, 2010 at Sunshine Haven, Olmito, Texas. Born July 16, 1924 in Olmito, she was a lifetime resident of Los Fresnos.
Up until her illness, she served as Executive Director of Housing in Los Fresnos.
She was preceded in death by her parents Aurelia and Justo Lopez, husband Felipe Silva and son Juan Manuel Silva.
She is survived by two daughters, Perla (Kevin) Hickson of Brownsville, Cristina Contreras of Austin, two grandsons, Kevin Patrick Hickson and Elias Contreras of both of Austin.
Mrs. Silva was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Los Fresnos. A lifetime achievement was, being honored with the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame in 2007.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 24th from 3:00 pm to 9 pm with the Holy Rosary beginning at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be Monday, January 25th at 10 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos. Services will conclude at that time.
