Carlos Cortez

Carlos Cortez, 90, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023 at Southeast Nursing and Rehab in San Antonio, Texas.

Carlos was a friendly and happy person who enjoyed visiting the other patients in the nursing home and making them laugh.  According to the staff at the McAllen Nursing Center where he resided for several years before being transferred to the Southeast Nursing and Rehab, he will be greatly missed.

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents Juan M. and Paula O. Cortez; his brothers, Marcos Cortez, Juan O. Cortez (Guadalupe), Guadalupe Cortez (Amelia); his sisters, Paulita Cortez, Delia C. Ybarra (Martin), and Maria C. Lerma (Jose).

Left to treasure his memory are numerous nephews and nieces.

The Cortez family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Following the service, Carlos will be laid to rest at the Rio Hondo City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the McAllen Nursing Center for providing care and also to the Southeast Nursing and Rehab in San Antonio, TX, and special thanks to Guiding Light Hospice in San Antonio for making him comfortable during his time of illness.
