Candelaria Rivera Tamez

Candelaria Rivera Tamez, age 99, of Kingsville, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018.

Candelaria was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe Tamez and son Edelmiro Tamez.

Cande as she was known to family and friends was a loving wife for 65 years.  She was a caring and loving mother to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She made her home a place to gather for every holiday and cooked a fine meal appropriate for the celebration.  She poured her love into her family as well as the food she cooked. In her early years she was a member of the Fred Booth PTA and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Later in life she spent her time tending to her hobbies; gardening, baking and her favorite, quilting.  We could always find her under the carport quilting and enjoying the company of her neighbors (friends). At the age of 82 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The disease gradually took its toll and she later moved in with her daughter.  This is where she spent the last years before she went home to the Lord.

She leaves behind her children: Raul Tamez (Irma Corkill), Armando Tamez (Blanca Jaime), Oscar Tamez (Norma Perez), Irma Chapa (Waldo Chapa), and Rolando Tamez (Josie Jimenez); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. We’ll miss you mom. See you again one day!

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
