Byron H. Gasaway, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at his residence. Byron was born March 24, 1929 in Cushing, OK to Hugh and Patricia Gasaway. He received an Associates Degree from Santa Ana College and proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Byron retired after 22 years of service from U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant and then went to work with Edwards Labs for 20 years. He was a member the VFW, American Legion and enjoyed golfing and traveling.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Stan Roache and his sister Patricia Konrad.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Gasaway; his children, Michael Gasaway and Mark Gasaway and wife Kelly; grandchildren: Jason, Shawn, Jay, Joshua, Samuel, Ashley, Brittany and Kelsey; and four great grandchildren.
A memorial services was held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
