Bruno Cortez

December 6, 1949 — January 9, 2016

SAN BENITO, TX. – Bruno Cortez, Jr., born on the 6th of December 1949, went to be with his Lord surrounded by family this 9th of January 2016. He was sixty-six years old.

Bruno was a resident of San Benito, Texas, but chose to live out his final days in his brother’s house in Cedar Hill, Texas.  He proudly made a living in transportation to support his family as a truck driver for many years, becoming a bus driver later on in life. During his time employed, he made many cherished friendships due to his kind-hearted, giving nature.  His major passion in life was carpeting, often spending weekends building, remodeling, and repairing homes.

He joins his father, Bruno Cortez, Sr.; mother, Zolia Cortez; brother Hector Cortez, Sr.; and nephew, Hector Cortez, Jr., in heaven.

His loving wife, Magdalena Cortez; daughter, Amanda Cortez; son, Andrew Cortez; grandchildren Samuel Neito, Sr., Xavier Cortez, and Mia Garcia; great-grandchildren, Robynn Neito and Samuel Neito, Jr.; and siblings Adela Molina, Herman Cortez, Stephanie Abbasi, and Zoila Avalos, remain to continue his legacy of kindness.

Visiting hours are on Friday, the 15th of January 2016, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Friday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, the 16th of January 2016, in St Helen's Catholic Church, 228 Huisache Avenue, Rio Hondo, Texas 78583.

Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586.

The family asks those wishing to donate to the cause and further research of pancreatic cancer make contributions to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at www.npcf.us.
