Brenda J. Wells, 65, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, TX.
Brenda was born on February 20, 1948 in Athens, TX to Travis and Cheno Perkins.  She attended schools in Lyford and graduated from Lyford High School in 1966.   She also received her Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminology from UT Pan American in Edinburg.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude and received numerous honors.
Brenda for many years owned and operated The Barefoot Lady.  After attaining her college degree later in life she became a residential real estate appraiser with Robinson, Duffy and Bernard.
Brenda loved spending time with her three grandchildren and rescuing dogs and cats.  She had a passion for gardening and working in her flower beds.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Wells of San Benito, whom she married in 1989; son, Clinton Williams and daughter-in-love, Sheri Pagel of Round Rock, TX; son, Bretton and Christine Hopkins of Fayetteville, GA; her three grandchildren, Sydney Williams, Garrison Williams and Evelyn Hopkins; two sisters, Sharon Beard and Debbie Perkins; one brother, Travis “Duane” and Sue Perkins; and her mother, Cheno Perkins of Flower Mound, TX.  She was preceded in death by her father, Travis Perkins.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 10:00 AM, Monday, April 29, 2013 with the Rev. Gene Horton officiating.  Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the St. Jude’s Children’s Home, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or charity of choice.
