Billie Palmer, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Weslaco, Texas.
Billie was born May 2, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Violet (Smith) Bingley.  She graduated from the Los Fresnos High School and Texas A & I in Kingville. Billie married Daniel Harvey Palmer in July 22, 1946.  Early in her working career, she was a flight attendant for Braniff Airways and later worked as an office administrator for Dr. James Casey.  Billie was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Logos Executive Committee and the First United Methodist Church of Harlingen for 37 years.  She sang in the choir for 35 years and received the Woman of the year from United Methodist Women in 2006.
Billie is survived by her sons, John Andrew Palmer of Phoenix, AZ and Robert George Palmer of Harlingen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Harvey Palmer; son, James David Palmer; and parents, Violet and George Bingley.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 11, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A celebration of Billie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011, 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Harlingen. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Watkins, Sam Hahs, Merlyn Koch, Jim Hawkins, Norman Rozeff, Bob Burley, Gerry Chatelle and Murray Thompson.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Aurora House Hospice of Weslaco, TX, the First United Methodist Church of Harlingen, TX or the Harlingen Humane Society.
