Betty “Ritchie” Paris, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Harlingen, Texas.
Betty was born on April 26, 1925 to Herbert Frederick and Audra Richardson of Indianapolis, Indiana. The family moved to Terre Haute in 1926.
She attended Laboratory High School, was active in Choir, Orchestra, and was majorette for the Band.
Betty met and married Carroll L. Paris of Vincennes, Indiana on October 28, 1945. The couple then left for El Paso, TX where Mr. Paris attended Texas College of Mines now known as UTEP. Betty worked for the Mt. States Telephone and telegraph. They were transferred several times in the following years but she remained a telephone operator for over 30 years. They were transferred to Harlingen, Texas in 1979.
She was a member and Past President twice of the Harlingen B.P.O. Does, Drove #90 Texas, and a member of her Church Choir. She was also a volunteer and Past President of VBMC Auxiliary as well as Past President of the Rio Grande Valley Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Becker and her husband, Brian of Corpus Christi, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll L. Paris in 2007.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at funeral home from 10 am till service time.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 4:00 PM.
