Bertha “Granny” Montemayor, 89, entered into rest on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Montemayor was born on March 11, 1924 to Daniel and Amalia Trevino in San Benito, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Amalia Trevino, her spouse J. Ruben Montemayor, her son Daniel Montemayor and her brother Samuel Trevino.
She is survived her sons Ruben (Evelyn) Montemayor, Daniel G. (Veronica) Montemayor of San Benito, TX, her sister Celia (Jesus) Plata of San Benito, TX, her brother Raul Trevino of Richmond, TX, sister-in-law Raquel Trevino of San Antonio, TX, her grandchildren Laura (Albert) Vierra, Jason (Laura) Montemayor, David (Angie) Montemayor, Beka (Tony) Hinojosa, Rachel (Annaur) Nazir and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.., at San Benito Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. Entombment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be David Montemayor, Jason Montemayor, Eluid Plata, Saul Trevino, Phillip Hinojosa, Albert Vierra and Dan Trevino.
A special thanks to Dr. Juan Maldonado and his staff for providing excellent care successfully bringing her out of several life threating situations and always giving credit to God. Every visit she was greeted with courtesy and with some humor which she always would respond with and also to the Lucio family for including her like one of the family. To her numerous friends who called or visited with her frequently.
