Bennie Ray Wood, 86, passed away April 14, 2015 in Harlingen, TX.
Bennie was born July 4, 1928 in Jefferson, TX to Ethel and Ray Wood. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Jefferson, TX.  He served his country as a Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa. Bennie was employed with Lane Wells Service Company, Petro Tech in Maricabo, Venezuela and then with Dresser Atlas Oil Company until his retirement.  He was 32nd Degree Mason with the Shriners and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, TX.  Bennie loved traveling and seeing the U.S. and spent the summers in South Fork, CO.
He is survived by his son, Michael Lynn Wood (Leslie) of Jefferson, TX; daughter, Ann McLelland (Mike) of Arroyo City, TX; daughter, Linda Thomas (Ron) of Arroyo City, TX; grandchildren Michael Dewayne Wood, Shane Allen Wood, Rachel Cooner, Crystal Smith, Tiffany Quinn, Michael McLelland and Kathleen McLelland Hollon; sister Sharon Butler (Jim) of Maumelle, AR; nephews Chase, Ryan, and Dillan Tucker and Ken Simpson.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Ray Wood; wives, Eleanor Wood, Roberta Wood and Clara Belle Grubbs Payne; and sister, Georgia Simpson.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 17, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito with Rev. David Payne officiating.
The family wishes to thank Clint and Kathy Wunderlich and Deb and Roy Robins for their care and assistance.  A special thank you to the mangers and staff of Chick Fil-A in Harlingen for all the attention and their daily service for Bennie Wood the last two years.
