Benito Sosa

Benito Sosa, a longtime resident of Bluetown, TX, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 90 years of age.  He was born in San Benito, TX on March 21, 1930 to the late Canuto Sosa and Dolores Rivas.

He was in agriculture and a lifelong farmer before his retirement. He loved his family, loved his siblings, and was an excellent husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was an amazing handyman with a big heart who enjoyed helping others.

Left to treasure Benito’s memory is his daughter, Nora (Jorge) Jiménez; sons, Mario (Magda) Sosa, Juan Sosa; grandchildren, Jorge Luis (Sonia) Jiménez, Jr., Noreli (Francisco) Carmona; and, 6 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings Teodoro Sosa, Angel Sosa, Domingo Sosa and Juana Saldívar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Enriqueta Sosa; parents, Canuto and Dolores Rivas; siblings, Jerónimo Sosa, Hermenegildo Sosa, Elisa Yáñez, and Hermelinda Alegría.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  A Prayer Service will begin at 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening. Graveside service and interment will take place Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Las Rucias Cemetery (corner of Military Hwy/281 and Rangerville Road) with Pastor Roberto Rodríguez officiating.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jorge L. Jiménez, Sr., Jorge L. Jiménez, Jr., Jorge L. Jiménez III, Francisco Carmona, Miguel Yáñez, and Michael Yáñez.

Benito’s family wishes to thank the staff of Retama Manor Nursing Center and Kindred Hospice for all their care and support to him and the family.
