Bartlett L. Dudley

Bartlett Leland Dudley was born 14 July 1924 in Providence, RI, son of the late Lofton Leland Dudley, Jr. and Virginia (Bartlett) Dudley.  He died 11 June 2014 at the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen, TX.
He is survived by wife Carrie Anne (Mills) Dudley, whom he married in Port Byron, NY on 25 June 1948.  Also survived by sons Stephen Bartlett Dudley (Holly) of Alfred, NY and Edward Lofton Dudley (Kimberly) of LeRoy, NY;  daughter Charlotte Jo Dudley Stahley (David) of Springville, NY; daughter-in-law Becky (Strictland) Dudley.  A son, Joel Mills Dudley preceded him in death in 1996.
He leaves 12 grandchildren: Nathan Hill (Chasidi), Anna Hill Hintz (James), Jaben Hill (Destiny), Luke Dudley, Beau Dudley, Owen Dudley, Mark Dudley, Crystal Dudley Duffy (Joshua), Aaron Dudley (Christina), Michelle Dudley, Garrett Dudley, and Peggi Dudley.  He also leaves great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Hill, Brodie Hill, Bryson Hill, Margaret “Maggie” Hintz, Lillie Hill, Jaben Hill, Khloe Duffy; Tiffany VonDeremption and Justin Clark.
He is also survived by one sister Nancy Dudley Cole of Blue Grass, IA; nephew: Dudley Cole and niece Donna Cole Van Laarhoven plus several great-nieces and nephews.
Bartlett Dudley was a 1941 graduate of Amherst High School, Amherst, MA, attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA, a 1947 graduate of the NY State Ranger School in Wanakena, NY and in 1950 graduated from the College of Forestry at Syracuse Univ., NY.  He served four years as a Private in the US Marine Corps during World War II, where he was wounded on Okinawa Island in the Pacific Theatre in 1945.
He worked for the US Soil Conservation Service in Herkimer County, NY 1950-1952.  Moving to Cattaraugus County, NY in 1952, he owned and operated the BARCAR dairy farm on Bowen Road, East Otto for the next 45 years, being in partnership with his son Joel Dudley for 15 years.  He served as Town Justice for the Town of East Otto, NY for almost 30 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church there.  In retirement, he moved to Alamo, TX and was active in the community there. He served in the HOST program of the PSJA school district for over 10 years and was a volunteer at the Veterans Clinic in McAllen, TX at the same time.  He will be remembered at the Alamo Rose RV Resort Park for his participation in church, the bicycle club, swimming pool and pancake breakfasts.
His body has been donated for medical research and education through MedCure of Portland, OR.  A “Celebration of Life” service will be held by his family in NY later in July.
