Barbara Ruth Halbert Fisher, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.
Barbara was born in Rangerville, Texas on February 20, 1935 to Stephen Morris Halbert and Willie Grace Lane Halbert.  She attended and graduated from San Benito High School in 1952 and then went to attend Baylor University. Barbara was a member of the Rangerville Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen M. and Willie Grace Hallbert; sister-in-law, Vivia Halbert; nephew, Brent Halbert; and former husband, Raymond Paul Fisher.
Barbara is survived by her children, Jan Fisher of Columbia, South Carolina, John Fisher (Julie) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Larry Fisher (Kim) of Rangerville, Texas, Gary Fisher (Diane) of Victoria, Texas, James Fisher (Christi Beth) of Murphy, Texas; sister, Joyce Hollimen (Joe) of Pasadena, Texas; brother, Wayne Halbert; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whom she dearly loved, cherished and adored.
She is also survived by her stepmother, Maggie Halbert and step-sister, Griselda Lingow.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2012, 2:30 p.m., at Rangerville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Mann officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brent Halbert Scholarship Fund at Rangerville Baptist Church or the charity of choice.
