Ascencion Lerma Suarez

San Benito, TX – Ascencion “Chonita” Lerma Suarez, 92, a longtime resident of San Benito went to be with our Lord on March 21, 2012. She was born on May 29, 1919 in La Feria, TX to Guadalupe Lerma and Isabel Hernandez.
As a retiree with San Benito school district, she enjoyed traveling to go see family. She also enjoyed gardening and for many years had one of the prettiest gardens. Most recently, due to her health, she enjoyed sitting outside watching the different birds especially hummingbirds. She was very proud of all her family, taking interest in all we accomplished and expressing her pride in our successes. She always stood by us and supported us in all situations and her strength and endurance were a great inspiration to us. She lived a rich and full life. We will miss her deeply.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Angel Suarez; her mother, Isabel Hernandez; her father, Guadalupe Lerma; her grandson, Abel Saucedo; and numerous other family members.
Ascencion is survived by her 10 children, Rosa Falcon (the late Arnulfo) of Arizona, Esteban (Ernestina) Suarez of Richmond, TX, Emilio (Martha) Suarez of Richmond, TX, Isabel (Enrique, Sr.) Saucedo of San Benito, TX, Fina (Ruben) Galvan of San Benito, TX, Guadalupe “Lupita” (Francisco) Franco of Ontario, CA, Enrique Suarez of San Benito, TX, Alicia (Juan) Perez of Harlingen, TX, Joe “Quate” (Carmen) Suarez of Harlingen, TX, and Blanca Trevino of San Benito, TX;53 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. for a 10:30 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Honored to be pallbearers are Toby Zick, Gabriel Suarez, Enrique Saucedo, Jr., Eric Suarez, Emilio Suarez, Jr., and Ruben Galvan, Jr.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for all the care and compassion demonstrated by the staff at Odyssey Hospice. Special thanks to all who helped to care for her.
