Arthur Pereda

Arthur Pereda, 72, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at his home in Harlingen.
Arthur was born May 13, 1941 in Mexico City to Dorothy Moss Pereda and Alfonso Pereda.  He was a resident of Harlingen for many years where he attended Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a deacon and treasurer.  His favorite activity was serving the church and its members.
Arthur worked for John Deere as a credit sales manager, then for Hilco as a sales director and his last career was a sales partner for Indoff, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Pereda of Harlingen; children, Debbie Rue of Hammond, LA, Kathy Bierstedt and husband, Brad of Floresville, TX, Cristina Pereda of Queretaro, MX, Alexandro Pereda and wife, Luz Maria of Queretaro, MX, and Mauricio Pereda of Queretaro, MX; grandchildren, Emily Nowacki and husband, Matthew of Austin, TX, Matthew Bierstedt of Austin, TX, Javier Pereda of Queretaro, MX; brother, Victor Pereda of Cuernavaca, MX; extended family, brother-in-law, Scott Mills and wife, Suzanne of Albuquerque, NM and brother-in-law, Mike Mills of Albuquerque, NM.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Dorothy Perada of Mexico City, MX and a son, Francisco Pereda.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2701 N. 7th St., Harlingen, TX, 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 with Pastor Scott Floyd officiating.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with food and fellowship back at the church following the burial.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Tavara, Tim Holliday, Tom Coyle, David Sinclair, Webb Wallace, Lonnie Stanton and Al Henderson.
The family request, that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Arthur was much loved by his devoted wife, his children, and grandchildren.  He was known as a generous Christian servant, both in his church and out.  He loved to travel and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.  He especially loved the Old West, both travel and history.  In his last career, with Indoff, he loved serving his customers and the thrill of a good sale.
