SANTA ROSA, TX:
Arthur Leo (Bud) Jones, Jr., 80, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007, at La Hacienda Healthcare Harlingen, TX. Bud was born on October 17, 1926 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Arthur Leo Jones Sr. and Flora Dawson Jones. He moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1939. He graduated from Weslaco High School in 1944. Bud farmed many acres in the Valley, owned a crop dusting service, and managed a cattle ranch. He enjoyed flying airplanes, collecting and building vintage firearms, and making bone handle knives. He also enjoyed getting friends to shoot black powder rifles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Marie Jones. Bud is survived by his three sons, Craig (June) Jones of Pasadena, TX, Glen (Beth) Jones of Winchester, VA, Neil (Anna) Jones of Santa Rosa, TX; one daughter, Marie (Danny) Harper of Mission, TX; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Herbert (Dixie) Jones and two sisters, Merlene Emery and Mildred (Milly) Henry.
Bud was one of a kind. He will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007, 4 p.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home Chapel.
