Arthur Alexander Allen, 91, peacefully passed from this life November 1, 2022. He was born February 9, 1931 to the late Melvin Arthur Allen and Christine Sanford Allen in San Benito, Texas.
He was a graduate of Harlingen High School, Class of 1950. In addition to his academic studies, Arthur drove the school bus his senior year of high school. He went on to serve in the National Guard where he attained the rank of Sergeant. One of his most memorable National Guard assignments was guarding the road for President Dwight D. Eisenhower when the president attended the dedication of Falcon Dam.
Arthur was a valued employee of John Deere Implement Company in Weslaco and Early, Texas. He retired from John Deere after forty-five years of dedicated service.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and more fishing.
Arthur is preceded in death by his sons, Melvin Owen Allen and Michael Gene Allen; daughter-in-law, Kathy Allen; his parents, Melvin A. and Christine S. Allen; and a brother, James R. Allen.
Left to treasure Arthur’s memory is his loving wife, Dorothy Axtell Allen; his children, Arthur Wayne Allen, Raymond Dale Allen (Belinda); honorary sons, Paul Riley (Cheryl), Ronald Palmer (Patsy), and Ricky Scope; grandchildren, Charles Wayne Allen, Mary Jean Foster, Stacy Lynn Allen, Roger Owen Allen, Amber Jade “Riley” Lewis, Gabriel Payton Lewis, Aurora Isabella Lewis; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Bert Allen (Debbie) and Chris Allen (Geri).
Arthur’s family wishes to thank his granddaughter, Stacy Lewis, for staying with him and taking such wonderful care of him.
A celebration of Arthur’s life and legacy will take place Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.at the First Baptist Church of Combes where he was a member.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor Arthur by making a memorial gift to the charity of your choice.
