Antonio Galvan Briones

Antonio Galvan Briones, 72, a native of San Benito, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, November 30, 2017.  Antonio was born to Eugenio Briones and Catarina Galvan Briones on May 30, 1945.

He attended public schools in San Benito and was a proud graduate of San Benito High School.  After high school graduation, Antonio attended the University of Houston where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  He was an auditor with the Texas Department of Human Services for 30 years before his retirement.  Antonio enjoyed basketball and all Greyhound sports activities.  He was a great humanitarian and had a special interest for human rights.

Antonio is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda R. Briones, his daughter, Dora M. Briones, his son, Jesus Briones (Emily Ruby Fierros) and grandson, Ethan Cruz Briones.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio and Catarina Briones, two sisters Apolinar and Dora, and four brothers, Margarito, Jose, Raymundo, and Narciso.

Antonio’s family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito.  Funeral services for Antonio will conclude at the end of the funeral mass.
