Annie Lee Young-Bunton

Warrenton/Harlingen, TX:
Annie Lee Bunton, 96, of Warrenton passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Oak Springs Nursing Home.  She was born on April 22, 1913 to William Lee Shelton of Kildare, TX and Ethel Irene Williams of Lafayette, AL.  Annie Lee and her sister Redonia, moved to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas in the mid 1930’s.
Annie Lee worked as a nurse’s aide and beautician thru the depression and WWII.
She met her first love, Robert Orville Young, originally of Minter, TX and they were married on April 18, 1947.  Their only son, William Ray Young was born on July 28, 1949.  In 1950 the family moved to Leakey, TX and established a sheep and goat ranching operation.  The next ten years were spent between the two locations and in 1967 they sold the ranch to travel extensively until RO’s death on March 18, 1980.
Annie Lee remarried in Harlingen and married Harper Bunton in November of 1982.  They moved to Kerrville, TX in 1991 to be closer to Annie Lee’s grandsons.  Harper passed away in January of 1999.  Annie Lee continued to garden, sew and work in estate sales.  In the spring of 2008, Annie Lee moved to Warrenton, VA with her son and grandsons and continued her hobbies of gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her son William R. Young of Warrenton, VA, her grandsons, Robert Lee Young 18, of Dahlonega, GA and William David Young, 16 of Hume, VA; three daughters-in-law: Marilyn, Kay and Debra; four nephews: Robert Stratmann of Georgetown, TX, Chip Stratmann of Ocean Side, CA, Fred Young and Bobbie Young both of Harlingen, TX.
A graveside service will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX on February 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM.  Arrangements are being handled by Buck Ashcraft of Harlingen, TX.  A memorial service was conducted on January 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Calverton Baptist Church in Calverton, VA.
