Anne M. Vogt

Harlingen, Texas:
Our mother Anne entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Jan. 12, 2013. Anne was born in Des Plaines, Illinois on Aug. 14, 1924 to Frank and Edna Kuentz. Anne graduated from the University of Dubuque, where she met her future husband, Jack, in 1942. Anne became a professional educator. She taught elementary school for many years in Lombard, Illinois. Anne went on to receive her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist from Northern Illinois University in 1971.  Anne became a reading specialist and diagnostician with Oak Park, Illinois school district where she retired from in 1981.
Anne and Jack moved to South Texas in 1984 residing first in South Padre Island and then moving to Harlingen.  Anne enjoyed traveling and visited most of Western and Eastern Europe, Asia and Mexico.  She was also a passionate bridge player and competed in many bridge groups in the Harlingen area.  Anne also participated in Harlingen CISD’s HOSTS program, Harlingen Proud, and the Harlingen Garden Club.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Edna Kuentz, her sister Ellen Belford, and her beloved granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Lapka.
Anne is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Vogt, her daughter, Janaan (Robert) Lapka, and her sons John H. Vogt Jr. of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Jeffrey L. Vogt (Deborah) of Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Anne is also survived by her precious grandchildren Stefanie Lapka, and Ingrid, Seth, Edward and Peter Vogt.
Our Anne, as wife, mother, and grandmother was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was our family’s source of strength, fortitude, perseverance, generosity and love.
A memorial service celebrating Anne’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, 2 p.m., at the Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charlie Palmer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to the Treasure Hills Presbyterian Church, 2120 N. Ed Carey Dr., Harlingen, Texas 78550.
