Annabelle Davis Kirkland, 89, of Woodland Hills, CA and a long-time resident of Harlingen, TX, passed away on Saturday September 20th, 2014 in Los Angeles.
Annabelle was born on April 24, 1925 in Dawson, TX. She was the daughter of Major and Ruby Davis. Annabelle attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where she met her future husband, Jean Kirkland, during the Second World War. After the war, they entered the cotton ginning business, first in Abbott, Texas and later in Santa Rosa, Texas. They were married for sixty-five years. Annabelle was a homemaker, a member of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Harlingen. From 1991-1995, she owned and operated the Silent Re-Run Consignment Shoppe in Harlingen. In 1998, Annabelle and Jean moved to Waco, TX to be near her aunt, Frances Salmond. After Jean’s death in 2008, she moved to Woodland Hills to be near her son, Jimmy. In August, 2013, Annabelle visited her hometown of Dawson and enjoyed a reunion with her extended family in the area.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Jean, son, Jay and brothers, Wayne, Wendell and Dan Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Jarboe and husband, Wally of Dallas, TX; son Jimmy Kirkland and wife, Jean, of Woodland Hills, CA; grandsons, Shane Kirkland of Sharpsburg, GA and Davis Kirkland of Woodland Hills, CA.
Graveside services only will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2014 with Jake Vincent officiating.
