Anita Marie Matz, 63, passed away May 31, 2007 in Wilmington, North Carolina from heart complications.
Anita was born March 26, 1944 in Harlingen, Texas. She was the daughter of William H. & Juanita Llewellyn Matz.
Anita attended Harlingen High School but, the family moved to Austin, Texas in 1959 and graduated High School there. She went to Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas and graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas with a B.S. in nursing. Later she went to East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and received a Masters degree in Nursing.
She practiced nursing at Dolly Vincent Hospital in San Benito and Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She moved to Washington D.C. and taught nursing for a short period of time, moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1988 and taught nursing at Cape Fear Community College until retirement in 2006.
Gardening and love of all animals took up most of her time. She was a wonderful friend, highly thought of individuals for her honesty and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Gathering for remembrance will be at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on June 8, 2007 from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Service will follow immediately at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mont Meta Memorial Park, San Benito, Texas.
