Andrew Taylor Simmons

April 20, 1989 — February 21, 2019

Andrew Taylor Simmons, 29, passed away suddenly on February 21st, 2019 at his parent's home in Harlingen, TX.

Born in Harlingen on April 20th, 1989 to James C. and Laurie Graham Simmons, Taylor was the oldest of four children. He attended Harlingen High School South and the Marine Military Academy. He was currently studying to obtain his Commercial Drivers License.

Anybody who crossed paths with Taylor would agree that he was the politest and most respectful young man they had ever met. Since he was a boy, he showed great aptitude towards athletics and loved to play tennis, go skateboarding, enjoy long days at the beach with his family, and most importantly, spend time with his son.

Taylor was a loving father, adored son, caring brother, great eldest cousin, beloved nephew, and a faithful friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was extremely grateful for the love and support of all of his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Blake Cole Simmons; Blake's mother, Jessica Garcia; his parents, Laurie and Jim Simmons; his grandfather, James Cecil Simmons of Collierville, TN; his sister Lila Katherine of Austin;  brothers, James Marshall of San Marcos and Evan Parker of Harlingen; his supportive uncles, Marshall White Graham, Jr. and William Andrew "Andy" Graham (Mickey Graham), and aunts,  Marinelle Sowden (Kip Sowden) of Dallas, Cindy Simmons Rupiper (Brian Rupiper) of Germantown, TN and Sally Simmons Vance of Memphis, TN; also left are his cousins, Marshall Crockett Graham, Malcolm Edward Graham, Marion Elizabeth Graham, Hailey Mayrant Sowden, Webb Graham Sowden, Hillary Vance Walker and Olivia Vance Walker; Andrea Salazar, who loved him as her own; and his godparents, Katherine Greenlee Uhlhorn, Robert Burns Dunkin, and his aunt Marinelle.

He is preceded in death by his adoring grandmothers, Gene Abernathy Graham and Sally Jo Simmons, and his grandfather Marshall White Graham.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.  Burial will be private.
