Andres W. Cavazos passed peacefully on August 4, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born in Los Indios, Texas on October 6, 1934 to the late Juaquin and Concepcion Weaver Cavazos.
He and his late wife, Maria Alicia, spent their first dates fishing and made it their lifelong passion.
Andy was the Superintendent for road construction for Cameron County Precinct 3 until his retirement. He was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Alicia Cavazos; his parents, Joaquin and Concepcion Cavazos; his brothers, Joaquin Cavazos, Alfredo Cavazos, and Mike Cavazos; and his sisters, Rosa Gonzales, Herminia Moreno, Angela Cavazos, and Aurora Cavazos.
Left to treasure Andys’ memory are his children, Rosie Garza (Juan) Martinez, Norma (Mickey) Boland, Celinda (Celia Israel) Garza, and Melinda (Tom) Goodman; grandchildren, David D. Montemayor, Rebekah R. Hinojosa, Rachel R. Nazir, Ted de la Rosa, Lori Flores, Roland Garcia, and Kerri M. Valencia; 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The Cavazos family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, August 6, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening. A committal service will take place on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park after which Andy will be laid to rest with full military honors.
Andys’ grandchildren, David, Rebekah, Rachel, Ted, Lori, Roland, and Kerri, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
