Andrea “Andy” Salazar Arévalo, 57, passed away at home on October 11, 2022, surrounded by family and close friends. Andrea was born November 30, 1964, to Teodosa and Cresencio Salazar Arévalo in México, and spent most of her adult life in Harlingen, Texas.
Our beloved Andrea was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She lived her life as a strong, loving, generous, nurturing, and faithful woman that always put the well-being of others before herself. Her beautiful life, kindness, and legacy will forever leave an impact on the lives of those she touched.
Andrea had many hobbies, with gardening being one of her favorites. She truly enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching them flourish. She was also an avid bird watcher, and often shared her knowledge of the migration patterns to friends and family. She always prepared the bird feeders to await her favorite hummingbirds.
She was an amazing cook, delighting her family and friends with delicious meals. Nothing gave Andrea more joy than knowing that her cooking would unite her loved ones.
Andrea was adored by her two grandchildren, Cristian, and Itzel Zuniga, having made lasting memories with both. She instilled in them her graceful nature and her passion for cooking and gardening. Because of her, they will walk through life with her kindness, respectfulness, strength; but most importantly, her love.
Andrea is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Aurelio Garcia; her daughter Carolina Salazar Arévalo; her grandchildren, Cristian and Itzel Zuñiga; her siblings, Lucia Salazar Arévalo (Juan), Florinda Salazar Arévalo (José), María Crescelda Salazar Arévalo (Julián), María Elena Salazar Arévalo (Santiago), Marcelina Salazar Arévalo (Carlos), Claudio Salazar Arévalo (Susy), Roberto Salazar Arévalo (Tammy) and Arturo Salazar Arévalo (Silvia); and numerous nieces and nephews.
We graciously thank her second family, Laurie and Jim Simmons and their children, Lila, Marshall and Parker Simmons; the Gudino family; the Garcia family; as well as the many friends that stayed by her side in her last moments. Your kindness will always be remembered.
