Andrea C. Hernandez

November 11, 1931 — December 8, 2017

An amazing blanket of snow was sent by God to wrap Andrea C. Hernandez as she entered into heaven on December 8, 2017.  She was as unique as a snowflake.  Her never ending compassion and overabundant love was known by all.  Her children Diana, Armando, Luis Jr., and Jesus will never look upon a snowflake without remembering Andrea’s special touch and gentle words.  The memories we have of her will never melt away as a snowflake does.  Andrea, or Lea as most knew her, will be present in our lives and treasured in our hearts forever.

Andrea was born to Cipriano Castro and Santiaga Gausin Castro on November 11, 1931 in Mercedes, Texas and, except for a few brief years, was a lifelong resident of San Benito, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Luis Hernandez, Sr.; her sons, Jose Luis Sandoval and Alberto Hernandez; grandson Noe Israel Sandoval;  brothers, Lorenzo and Abraham, sisters, Consuelo and Ignacia; parents, Cipriano and Santiaga Castro; husband, Braulio Sandoval.

Andrea is survived by her children, Diana (Raul) Garcia; Armando (Lupita) Hernandez; Luis Hernandez, Jr.; Jesus (Norma) Castro; daughter-in-law, Norma Linda Sandoval, Mary Hernandez; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister Guadalupe Moreno.

Andrea’s family will be receiving friends and relatives on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
