Amelia Luna Avalos, 90, passed away on Thursday February 5, 2009 in Brownsville, Texas. She was born on July 9, 1918 to Cruz and Petra Luna. She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Guadalupe Avalos Sierra, Jesus Avalos, Carmen Avalos, Reynaldo Avalos, Alicia Avalos.
She is survived by her husband, Hermenejildo Avalos; children, Consuelo Contreras (Juan), Hermenejildo Avalos Jr, (Josefa), Eduardo Avalos (Herlinda), Yolanda Rodriguez (Armando), Ruben Avalos (Odilia); 27 grandchildren; 46 great-great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Pallbearers will be Hector Avalos, Juan Contreras, Eduardo Avalos Jr, Pedro Rodriguez, Ruben Avalos Jr, Manuel Avalos. Visitation will be on Sunday February 8, 2009 from 1pm to 9pm at San Benito Funeral Home with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral services are pending at San Benito Funeral Home. Interment will be at La Familia Avalos Cemetery in El Ranchito. Arrangements are under the direction of San Benito Funeral Home.
