Amancio V. Garcia, 93 is now resting in peace. He passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Amancio was born on April 8, 1925 to Celso & Petra Vela Garcia and resided in Villa Cavazos all his life. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge; he was awarded 3 Battle Stars and a Silver Star for Gallantry.
Amancio was preceded in death by loving wife of 64 years Margarita Garcia; his son Amancio Garcia, Jr; his parents Celso & Petra V. Garcia and great grandchildren Joaquin Villegas and Alannah Garcia.
Left to cherish his memory will be children: Ninfa (+Ismael) Gracia, Gilbert (Gracie) Garcia, Dora (Poncho) Valdez, Berta (Carlos) Barbosa, Adan (+Carmen) Garcia, Irma (Tony) Guerrero, Noemi (Armando) Benavidez, and Norma Garcia; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park where he will receive Military Honors.
