Amado Vargas, Jr.

HARLINGEN:
Amado Vargas, Jr., 75 years old, entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 16, 2008.  Amado was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was born in Laredo, Texas on September 4, 1932 to Amado Vargas Sr. and Maria Del Reugio Guzman and attended Laredo public schools.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  After serving in the Army, he received his G.E.D. from Laredo Junior College and married Aurora Gonzalez Salinas on May 13, 1974.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Rodolfo Fernandez, and sister Adelina G. Garcia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Aurora G. Vargas; children, Reynaldo (Mary Francis) Salinas of Boerne, TX, Homero (Linda Kay) Salinas of San Antonio, Paul Anthony (Esmeralda Irene) Salinas of Harlingen, Elena (Stephen) Abbott of Brownsville, and George (Jenny) Salinas of Houston; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.            The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Catholic funeral service at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Catarino Villanueva as celebrant.  Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria with military graveside services under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205 and V.F.W. Post 2410.
