Alice Lou Kark, 82, passed away Friday, March 27 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Alice was born July 5, 1926 in Gastonia, North Carolina. She grew up in Akron, Ohio with her 2 brothers and baby sister. There, she met her beloved husband, John, and were blessed with a son and daughter and were married almost 59 years.
After living in Columbus, Ohio for about 17 years, where Alice worked in property management, Alice and John retired to San Diego, CA in 1987 and stayed until 1993. Alice always said those 6 years were some of the funnest times they had. They made great friends and they were on the same coast as her kids. In 1993, Alice and John finally retired to a new home in Harlingen, Texas where they enjoyed almost 16 years. Alice was blessed with a loving husband...loving children and family...loving friends...and a never ending faith. She loved the ocean and beach...she loved Las Vegas...and she loved to meet and talk to people. Alice never met a stranger.
Alice is survived by her son, John M. Kark (Rexann) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; daughter, Robin Kark of Martinez, CA; two grandsons, Jonathan Kark (Sherri) of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel Kark of Dallas, TX; a brother, Charles Lipford (Martha) of Akron, Ohio ; a sister, Wanda Smith of Akron, Ohio; her aunt, Zoe Smith of Gastonia, NC and sister-in-laws Beverly Lipford of Harlingen, TX and Elizabeth Klomfahs and Mary Kark of Cleveland, OH. Alice was a loving aunt to her nephews and nieces.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband John in December 2008; by her parents, Mary and MF Lipford; by her brother, Tom Lipford; and brother-in-law Wesley Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 11:00am at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home with Father Jerry Harris, officiating.
