Harlingen:
Alice Joyce Flowers, 83, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 in Harlingen.
Alice was born June 15, 1929 in Wichita Falls, TX to James and Estelle Flowers. She was a former resident of Raymondville before she moved to Harlingen in 1957. She worked at the South Texas Cotton Oil Co. for over 20 years, the Valley Co-Op Mill for 3 years and retired from the South Texas Hospital in 1992.
Alice was a member of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ and volunteered with the Harlingen HOST Program at Travis Elementary and Bowie Elementary for many years.
Alice is survived by her sister, Marjory N. Shelgren of Round Rock, TX; nephew, James Shelgren of Round Rock, TX; niece, Helen Handley of Leander, TX; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and her 8th and Harrison Church of Christ family. She was preceded in death by sisters, Cleo Handley and Ruby Lee Body and brother, J.D. Flowers, Jr.
Graveside services only will be held at the Raymondville Memorial Park, 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 21, 2013 with Jake Vincent officiating.
Visitation hours will be from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
