Alfredo Garcia, Sr.

August 28, 1946 — January 6, 2021

Alfredo Garcia Sr., 74, was called by our Lord and entered eternal rest on January 6, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1946 in San Benito, Texas to Virgilio Garcia and Marta Garcia-Garcia.  He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Martha C. Garcia to whom he was married for 23 years, his parents Virgilio and Marta Garcia, his brothers Carlos Garcia, Oscar Garcia, and Antonio Garcia.

He is survived by his brothers Virgil Garcia Jr. (Christina) of Harlingen, Jesus T. Garcia Sr. (Belinda) of San Benito and sister-in-laws Velma Reyes (Jose), Rosita Garcia, and Marie Ann Garcia.  Alfredo is also survived by his two children Alfredo Garcia Jr. (Sabina) and Andrea Garcia (Lenny Trevino) and grandchildren Autumn Trevino (Andrea), Easton Garcia and Emrie Garcia (Alfredo) and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas and also Dr. Kuye and Rene Torres, P.A. for many years of care.

As a prominent member of the San Benito community, he is best remembered for his community involvement and service to St. Theresa Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and San Benito Youth Baseball League.  His hobbies included supporting his San Benito Greyhounds, Texas Aggies and Dallas Cowboys.

Alfredo was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend with a lively spirit and fantastic sense of humor.  During his life, he reached out to many people with his personality and kindness.  His jokes, laughter, and the memories made will continue to live in our hearts.  His endearing qualities will remain in each and every one of us. We will love him forever.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Lenny Trevino, Dan Gomez, Troy Jensen, Miguel Barrajas, Johnny Abrego Jr., and Cody Riedel.  Honorary pallbearers include Alfredo’s grandchildren Autumn Trevino, Easton Garcia and Emrie Garcia.

Viewing will take place Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Fr. Joe Villalón, Jr., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.

All guests must wear a facial covering and practice social distancing while visiting the funeral home.
