Alfred Rene Millon was 71 and living in Harlingen, Texas when he died at home on Monday, November 18th, 2024, ending his long battle with liver disease.
He was born on June 3, 1953, in Linton, Indiana to Robert and Zella Millon. He lived in Findlay, Ohio as a child and graduated from Findlay Senior High School. He attended the University of Toledo Business School and Gem City College in Quincy, Illinois, where he became certified as both a gemologist and horologist. He managed jewelry stores, and his steady hands allowed him to do the most intricate watch repair work. In 1980, he changed careers and went on the road to sell raw materials in the plastics industry. He continued covering a multi-state territory until his retirement in 2018.
In 2010, Alfred married Donna Kavanagh. They enjoyed fourteen years of travel, golf tournaments and time on the bay at Port Isabel.
He was an avid golfer, playing at both Treasure Hills and the Harlingen Country Clubs. He served as Men’s Golf Association President for three years and was a Director for Life Begins at 40.
He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother James Millon (Candy). He is survived by his wife Donna; son Steven (Kristen); stepchildren Jake Vicander (Kara), Jill Beneke Farris (Tim), and Sara Beneke Brand (Othal); and grandchildren Jackson and Scarlett Millon, Braxton and Kendall Vicander, Peyton Fowler (Stephen), Paige McCleary and Adam Farris.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. Services are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home (www.sanbenitofunderalhome.com)
