Alfred R. Magouirk

Harlingen, TX:
Alfred (Al) Roosevelt Magouirk entered into eternal rest on Good Friday, April 10, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
He was born March 22, 1933 in Hale Center, Texas to Horace and Hattie Magouirk. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Combes.
Alfred served in the United States Army. He retired as sales supervisor for Ricthter Baking Company with over 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked with Valley Hunting Group on the Norias division of the King Ranch. Al was an avid hunter and fisherman. He delighted in sharing his love for the sports with his son, grandsons, granddaughter and nephews. He enjoyed gardening and taking walks with his buddy, Peanut.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 55 years, Mavis Thomas Magouirk; his son Mark (Sandy) Magouirk, daughters Judy (Larry) Pierce and Janet (Dwight) Smith; brothers Clarence Magouirk of San Benito, Texas and Allen Magouirk of Orange Grove, Texas. Grandchildren, Dana Brock, Lee Smith, Margaret De Leon, Jennifer Pierce, Karen Mata, Meghan Magouirk, Chelsea Magouirk, Alison Magouirk, Aidan Magouirk, Brandon Magouirk and seven great grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. John Ferris Jr. and Dr. O Sanusi for their relentless teamwork and care; to the 4th floor staff for their kindness, understanding and care; to the sitters and caregivers who lovingly tended to our loved one’s needs.
Viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday April 13, 2009 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, family will be presented 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Mont Meta Memorial Park with Dr. Bob Cole and Steve Wiest officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Combes First Baptist Church Sign Fund.
