Alfonso “Poncho” Guillen, 71, peacefully passed from this life November 15, 2022 in Houston, Texas. He was born July 11, 1951 in Brownsville, Texas to the late Antonio Hernandez and Manuela Guillen.
He was an avid fisherman, loyal Astros fan, and a fun-loving deliverer of laughs and smiles.
Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lucia Serrata; and brother, Alfredo Guillen.
Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife, Teresa Guillen; his daughters, Annie Nora Ortiz (Raul) and Nelda Guillen-Santiago (Frankie, Sr.); his grandchildren, Josiah Ortiz, Crystian Ortiz, Crystianna Ortiz, Frances Santiago, Bianca Cruz, Valerie Santiago, Frankie Santiago Jr., Oliver Alfonso Santiago, and Olivienne Santiago. Alfonso is also survived by his sisters, Diana Guillen and Lydia Guillen; brothers, Enrique Hernandez, Marcos Huerta, and Martin Castillo; and loving nieces and nephews.
The Guillen family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A chapel service will begin Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. Services for Alfonso will conclude Saturday evening.
