Alfonso Maldonado

April 12, 1947 — January 7, 2014

Mr. Alfonso Maldonado, 66, of San Benito went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Alfonso was born on April 12, 1947. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Jose and Aurora Maldonado, his sisters: Rebecca Mireles, Maria Evelia Mares, and Hortencia Soto.

Alfonso is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nahela Maldonado, his daughter, Ana (Jimmy) Richmond, son, Jose Alfonso Maldonado (Beth Schultz), and daughter, Annabel (Nico) Carrizales. He is also survived by his siblings Pedro Maldonado, Consuelo Maldonado, Hermelinda Sierra, Alicia Olvera, Francisco Maldonado, and Elida Rivera.  He will be dearly missed by his loving grandchildren, Jimmy Ryan, Joshua Riley, and Jana Rebecca Richmond.

Alfonso was a member of Valley International Christian Center (V.I.C.C.). He was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Not only did he love to spend time with his immediate family, but shared his love and generosity with his many friends and extended family. He was a hard working and dedicated lineman with over 30 years experience who’s work not only included maintaining the power lines in Texas, but also storm stricken areas all over the Gulf Coast.


The family will have a public visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2014 beginning at 12:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Valley International Christian Center. Interment will follow at the Garcia Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Arnulfo Villarreal, Daniel Hinojosa, Elpidio Mireles, Joe Rosenbaum, Sotero Rosenbaum Jr., Lupe Rosenbaum, Beto Rosenbaum, and Rene Rosenbaum.

The Maldonado family would like to extend their gratitude towards Dr. Shenkenberg along with the staff at Valley Cancer Associates, the Valley Baptist Inpatient and Outpatient Rehab Team, and the 4th floor staff oncology department at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their exemplary dedication and care.
