Alex Garcia, 44, gained his angel wings and went to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2023, after a two-year journey battling a brain tumor and then Stage 4 colon cancer. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 29, 1978, to Ms. Linda Garcia.
On December 4, 1998, Alex married his high school sweetheart, Fatima Huerta. They were blessed with 27 years of marriage bliss and had three loving children, Alexia Victoria, Alex Jr. aka Hondo, and Angelina Viktoria. Alex worked with the San Benito CISD for over 15 years. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Alex was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, grandson, father-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Alex loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a humble and kind-hearted man who was very proud of being a San Benito Greyhound. He supported his children in all their extra-curricular events by attending their Greyhound football games, track meets, and livestock shows. The San Benito FFA Chapter became a big part of his life; it became family. Alex always gave back to the SB community as a volunteer football coach and baseball coach for many years.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Fatima; his children, Alexia (Aldo), Hondo (Julie), and Angelina; his grandchildren, Baby Adeline, Gio, Baby Hondo, and Melody; his mother, Linda; his grandfather, Manuel Garcia; his mother-in-law, Angelita Huerta; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Guadalupe S. Garcia; aunt, Michelle Roa; uncle, José Cruz Garcia; and father-in-law, José R. “Pepe” Huerta.
Pallbearers will be Arnold Garcia, Paul Bermudez, Jesús Huerta, José Huerta Jr., Julian Huerta, Juan Guzman, Roberto R. Benavidez, Eugenio Ortiz, Miguel Garcia, and Rick Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Baby Adeline, Baby Hondo, Gio, and Melody.
