Alberto Garza

LA PALOMA, TX. – Alberto Garza, Jr., born on the 9th of May 1957 in San Benito, Texas to his parents, Alberto and Adela Garza, Sr., passed away on Thursday, the 28th of January 2016. He was fifty-eight years old.

Alberto graduated from San Benito High School in 1975. A year later, on the 15th of October 1976, he married his wife of thirty-nine years, Ruby Lee Garza. As a very well-known farmer of over forty years in La Paloma, Texas, he was never happier than when he spent time on the farm in his fields. He was loved and respected by all of those whose lives he touched. His faith was all encompassing and he had immense love and devotion for his family and his friends. Alberto was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas, where he was baptized in 2013.

His paternal grandparents, Rogerio and Loretta Garza, and maternal grandparents, Octaviano and Manuela Loera, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Ruby Lee Garza; his son and daughter Albert (Vivian Marisol) Garza III and Laura Beth (Jose Alfredo) Guerra; grandchildren Ava Angelina Garza, Gianna Sophia Garza, Enrique Alberto Garza, Jacob Alfredo Guerra, Isabella Loren Guerra, and Giuliana Ruby Guerra; as well as four sisters Mely (Juan) Ybarbo, Lydia (Oscar) De La Rosa, Norma (Robert) Martinez, and Ana Maria Garza.

Visiting hours are on Sunday, the 31st of January 2016, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at seven o’clock Sunday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, the 1st of February 2016, at ten o’clock in the morning, in the First Baptist Church, 501 E. Van Buren Avenue, Harlingen, Texas 78550.
Interment will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Daniel De La Rosa, Oscar De La Rosa, Jr., Jimmy Sanchez, Frank Zamora, Mark Limon, A. R. Ramos, and Erik Longoria.
