Alberta C. (Carrizales) Tamez

Alberta Carrizales Tamez, surrounded by multiple generations of her family, passed peacefully from this life at her home on Saturday, December 12, 2020.  She was born to the late Guadalupe and Cruz Borrego Carrizales on February 25, 1935 in San Benito, Texas.

Alberta was a homemaker and tended with love and care to her “Prieto”, her children, and all her grandchildren.  She prepared handmade flour tortillas and delicious beans, and made sure that everyone washed their hands before sitting at the table. “Lavar manos”, she would often remind them. Her beloved Savino Ranch was the center of Tamez/Carrizales family life and was always a place filled with love and laughter.

Left to treasure Alberta’s life and legacy are her husband, Ernesto “Prieto” Tamez, Sr.; her children, Blanche Estelle (Gerardo) Tamez, Mary Elma (Genaro) Gutierrez, Ernesto (Reyna) Tamez, Jr., Jenaro (Yolanda) Tamez, Janie (Lupe) Tamez, Reynaldo (Olivia) Tamez, Sandra Alicia Tamez, Norma Imelda (Richard) Tamez, Lupita (Jesse) Tamez; 30 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.

Alberta was preceded in death by daughters, Carmelita Tamez and Rosalva Tamez; son, Alfredo Tamez; great granddaughter, Shaniyah Elaine Kendrix; parents, Guadalupe and Cruz B. Carrizales; five brothers and two sisters.

The Tamez/Carrizales family thanks Well-Med Palliative Care, Elara Care, Dr. Todd Shenkenberg, MD & Staff, Dr. Danilo Asase, MD, and Valley Baptist Medical Center & Staff for all the attention and care given. The family also wishes to thank all of Alberta’s personal care givers for their commitment to providing loving, compassionate care.

Alberta’s family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock. Rite of Committal and interment will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park with Fr. Luis Tinajero officiating. Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Genaro Tamez, Jr., Edna Marie Robinson, Justin Gaitan, Nelson Zamora, Jr., Michael Aguilar, Orlando Cruz, Ernesto Tamez, and Jesse Gaitan.  Honorary pallbearers are Ernesto Tamez, Jr., Jenaro Tamez, Reynaldo Tamez, Sr., and Alfredo Tamez, Jr. (representing the late Alfredo Tamez, Sr.)
