Agustina Guadalupe Rivas

Agustina Guadalupe Rivas, 89, peacefully passed from this life in her home, surrounded by loved ones, into the arms of her Savior and Lord on June 20, 2023.  She was born to the late Isidro Gonzalez and Juanita G. Esquivel on August 28, 1933 in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico.

In her early years, Agustina worked as a maid and later she loved and cared for her family as a homemaker.  She was a faithful member of Primera Iglesia Baustista in San Benito.

In her leisure time, Agustina enjoyed buying plants of all types, gardening all hours of the day, shopping, eating out, crocheting, watching wrestling, Pedro Infante & India Maria movies, cooking, making tortillas, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Guadalupe Rivas; parents Isidro Gonzalez and Juanita G. Esquivel; step-father, Jose Esquivel; brothers, Jesus Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez, Tony Esquivel; one unborn sister; son-in-law Jose Manuel Angulo; four unborn grandchildren; three unborn great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Oscar Martinez; nephews; and one niece.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, her Nurse Ally, CNA Petra and the entire staff for everything they have done, the love, the care given, and the bonded relationship made.  They were truly a blessing.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Juan (Christine) Rivas, Isidro (Dolores) Rivas, Reynaldo (Ester) Rivas, Jose Guadalupe (Janie) Rivas, Esmeralda (Jose†) Angulo, Hilda (Jose) Mejia, Blanca Rivas, and Rene (Virginia) Rivas.

Agustina was blessed with 25 grandchildren Juan Jesus (Kelly), Mallorie, Nephi, Michael(Megan), Elias (Brianna), Mosiah, Melanie, Sariah, Isidro Jr., Crystal (Ace), Joshua (Ashley), Elizabeth (Juan Jr.), Rey Jr. (Lori), Gracie (Zainal), Joe Jr. (Ana), Ashley, Jose Jr., Veronica (Melvin Jr.), Jessica (Ruben), Michelle, Geneva (Michael), Katie (Daniel), Rene Jr., Leah, and Noah. She is also survived by 37 great-grandchildren: Malachi, Olivia, Bella, Jayden, Ava, Micah, Eliana, Madison, Augustina, Elijah, Samarrah, Addy, Ayo, Khaleesi, Angelica, Sabrina, Elijah, David Jr., EJ, Malaki, Hailey, Angel, Xavier, Trinity, Richard, Melynda, Destiny, Christine, Joey, Genesis, Ziannah, Nevanna, Niallani, Aaliyah, Mariah, Melvin III, and Adrianna.

She also leaves behind her siblings, Cristoval (Beatrice), Ruben (Janie), Uvaldo (Rosa), Yolanda (Ramon), Minerva (Darrell), Olga, and Arnulfo (Elida) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rivas family will receive visitors on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.  A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Juan Rivas, Isidro Rivas, Reynaldo Rivas, Jose Guadalupe Rivas, Rene Rivas and Jose Angel Mejia.
