Adrian Cortez, born August 07, 1985 and resident of Harlingen/ San Benito, was called Home on Friday, August 30, 2013 in El Reno, Oklahoma where he was working.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. Those who knew him best knew him as being quite a character and always willing to lend a hand to others in need. Adrian was a young man that was very reclusive and sometimes aloof with his feelings, but when it came to gatherings he was the life of the party, always with something to say and never forgetting a face. In his 28 years of life he struggled to find direction, unsure where he wanted to go, what he wanted to do, but that all changed about a year ago when he met Noemi Colmenero and her daughter Adalyn. In meeting them, he began to find purpose as father and companion leading him to set goals and have dreams that he hoped would eventually turn into reality. His life was cut short in a tragic car accident on his way to work Friday morning. It is unsure what this young man would have amounted to, but what is certain is that he had faith in God that guided him to become better in all aspects of his life. It is with this image of Adrian that we should remember him. He will truly be missed. Adrian was a 2003 graduate of San Benito High School and currently worked for Blattner Energy.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Adan Cortez Sr. and his sister Kayla June Cortez.
He is survived by his father Adan Cortez Jr. (Teresa), mother Diana Zamarripa Villarreal (Arturo), siblings: Adan Cortez III, Diana and Hannah Cortez, Cari and Sarah Medina and Katherine Escobar, nephew Konstantine Nava and niece Kiley Nava, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Although his life was left unfinished, we comfort ourselves in the thought that he lived everyday to the fullest and with every life he touched in those 28 years, his spirit will live on. May he now find peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
