SAN BENITO, TX. – Adelaida “Tia Chacho” Gonzales died Friday, December 26, 2014 at her residence in San Benito, surrounded by her family. She was 88.
Adelaida was born on November 22, 1926 to her parents, Mariano and Amparo Rosas Moreno.
Cooking and baking was her passion and hobby, with tamales being her specialty.
Her parents; brothers Modesto Moreno and Antonio “Tony” Moreno; and sister, Mariam M. Gonzales, precede her in death.
Survivors include her sons Roberto Varela, Jr. and Edwardo Varela; grandson, Scarlon T. Varela; granddaugther, Adelaida Lila Varela; and great-granddaughter, Jasmin Isabela Varela. She is also survived by her brother, Mariano Moreno, Jr., and sister, Manuela M. Rosas (Rafael).
Visitation will be held between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 28, 2014, with a prayer service scheduled for seven o’clock Sunday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
A chapel service will commence on Monday, December 29, 2014 at ten o’clock in the morning. Interment will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
