Abel Longoria, Jr.

Abel Longoria, Jr., 68, peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He was born August 6, 1953 to Abel Longoria, Sr. and Lydia Lucia Longoria in Brownsville, Texas.

Abel was a proud graduate of Los Fresnos High School. He retired from Cameron County where he was a valued employee for many years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Left to treasure Abel’s memory is his loving wife, Olga Longoria Lopez; his children, Abel Longoria Jr. (Alicia Martinez), Noel Longoria (Yvonne Botello), Federico Longoria, and Olga Alicia Longoria (Carlos Resendiz); fourteen grandchildren; his parents, Abel and Lydia L. Longoria; his sisters, Avelina Johnston, Lidia Flores, and Micky Cortez; and brothers, Leonel Longoria, Valerio Longoria, Romeo Longoria, Joel Longoria, and Javier Longoria.

The Longoria family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (16584 US-281/Military Hwy).

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jesus E. Hernandez Jr., Noel Longoria Jr., Abel Longoria IV, Federico Longoria, Valerio Longoria, Javier Longoria, and Carlos Resendiz. Honorary pallbearers are Abel Longoria III and Noel Longoria.

Services for Abel Longoria, Jr. will conclude at the close of the Mass.
