Matt Brown

Longtime Harlingen business owner, Mathew “Matt” Moore Brown, Jr., peacefully passed away April 9, 2023 at the age of ninety-one. He was born September 5, 1931 to the late Mathew Moore Brown, Sr. and Regina Pearl Sanders Brown in Harlingen.

Matt proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He owned and operated Matt Brown Auto Body Works, Inc. until his retirement after seventy-five years in the profession.  Matt was a member of the Harlingen Elks Lodge.

In his leisure time, Matt enjoyed hunting and racing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mathew Moore and Regina Brown; sister, Nancy Krause; close friend, Melba Tate; and friends, Greg Slyder, Bob Foster, Don Rodgers, Conrad Arambula Sr., Robert Havery, Jim Maddison, Buck Ashcraft, and Mary Bagley.

Left to treasure Matt’s memory are his children, John M. (Eileen) Brown and Adan J. (María) Arámbula; grandchildren, Adam Brown (Carrie Canova), Ryan (Lindsey) Brown, Logan (Kelsi) Brown, Heather Arámbula and Stephanie M. Gobin; great-grandchildren, Addison and Charlotte Brown, Conley Kate and Parker Brown, Alexandria N. and Isaiah B. Garcia, and Holly M. Garcia; nieces, Judy Stelly, Kim Krause, Maria Krause, and Kelle Rock; several great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his best friend and pet companion, Mike, who was always by his side.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Combes, Texas.
